Green Apple

Focal Length : 50 mm, Shutter Speed : 1/100 of a sec, f stop(Aperture) : f/1.8, ISO : 400, White Balance : flash

This Green Apple is hanging on very thin thread(did a photoshop to erase the thread), I have used green paper as the backdrop to match with the colour of apple. Behind the green backdrop, i have positioned a flash light to illuminate the green backdrop. 

From the left, another flash light illuminates the apple and a simple reflector, reflects this light on the other side.

Multiple Exposure hack in Nikon D3100

In today's post i'm sharing two pictures which are having multiple exposure. In photography multiple exposure is stacking of two or more exposure create on single image. Most of the higher end Nikon DSLR provides in-built multiple exposure functionality, where you can take a two images with different exposure and that will be superimposed into one single image.

This functionality is not available in Nikon D3100 (the best entry level nikon SLR camera). I found the alternate solution for this in Nikon D3100.

Steps to create multiple exposure image

 1. Click Menu button of your Nikon D3100 and then go to retouch..
 2. Select Image overlay
 3. Select any two images from your camera
 4. Then using UP and DOWN arrow, you can adjust the overlaying images.
 5. Save the image.

You can use this saved image and overlay on other image using above steps... to create one single image with three different exposure.

Set your camera in shutter priority mode, let your camera decide the aperture value for you, dial you shutter speed 1/4 or higher (may 1 or 2 sec). Focus your subject then then click and rotate you camera body in anti-clock or clock wise, remember click and rotation of camera body should be done at same time, and see the result.

Refreshing picture in hot summer

This time, summer in Bangalore is very hot .. so i thought of clicking a picture that will refresh you... so here it is.........

Focal Length : 55mm   Shutter Speed : 1/30 of a sec(0.0333 sec)  f stop(Aperture)  : f/36 ISO : 100 White Balance : Auto

To shoot closeup photos Macro lenses are the ideal choice, i don't have macro lens so i used my 18-55 mm kit lens.

To shoot pictures like this, you need a slice of lemon, sparkling water or club soda and green gift wrap paper for background. Hook the lemon slice to top of glass with clip and keep it on the bench or chair, place gift wrap paper at background. Remember make this setup outside your house or in the park where you will have good amount light.
Mount your SLR to tripod and focus the subject, set your aperture and shutter speed according to the light available. Now action time ... Pour the sparkling water into the glass and click.

You can use a slice of orange with blue background ......
